I agree with Ridetofish 100%.
I really enjoy Photo of the Day but without a location even great photos don't have much meaning. Most of the time, whenever the poster names the town, park, city, lake etc I go on Google Earth to see what the place, and surrounding areas look like. If you took the time to list where you live in your profile that just makes it all a bit better.

Gateway Colorado hwy. 141
From Grand junction this is where on the FZ, you need to decide if you are continuing on or turning around. Its a nice ride to Gateway, but some of the best is after this point.
so I don't start a long no picture string, this photo is from the same set.

A bit of a sad day but my FZ09 has been sold. Much appreciated to everyone at on the forum. I got a meet a few of you at the market research session in Atlanta a few years back. I'll still be around but it may just be photos of my WR250 instead :p

Thanks frog. I'll check out the area and the 141 Diner.

Diner has been closed for a long time now, unfortunately. Gateway is now home to Gateway Canyons Resort. Its an expensive place to stay/eat, but has a neat auto museum. South from Gateway, you can continue on 141 through the mountains. Or cut west from Paradox south of the La Sal mountains and into Moab UT, or instead of heading to Moab there are a couple Hwys that go through the southern UT mountains and canyons.

I just had a nice time poking around Gateway on Google Earth. I could certainly see myself and Mrs Shamrock spending a little time at the Paradox Grill and the car museum would be worth a visit for sure. Like many beautiful natural places it's obvious big money is moving in so Dueseys Diner might be your only option for a quick bite in the not too distant future.

Always liked seeing your photos. Wish you all the best in the days ahead.
If you don't mind, what did you get for the Fz?
$4000, 18141 miles, rear tire had a small leak from a nail I didn't catch soon enough. I got my WR for $4000 so it was a pretty even trade minus the WR having 16 thousand less miles.

Familiar with 141. A great ride from Gateway to Naturita. And the ride over to La Sal is nice too. Have you ever stopped into the Lone Cone Saloon in Norwood? Pretty interesting history on the bar itself and it's journey west.

You have to love it when you can buy your next bike with what you get for your old bike. I did the same with a Tiger 1050 for the 09. Take care CJ. Enjoyed having you here. Your contributions added much to this forum.

Yep, I got my XSR with my Hypermotard 1100 money. Zero dollars difference. ?

What made you give up the Duc for an XSR? Seems like a downgrade of suspension and brakes...
Just wanted something new after 8 years, and couldn't afford a new Ducati! ? I have owned Yamahas from way back, and when I saw the 60th anniversary XSR, it just called to me. I figured I could always upgrade the suspension - which I still haven't done. ??‍♂ But it's still a great bike...
